Why LiteraturBühne exists

We create a space where stories are not just read, but experienced – far from algorithms and noise.

Readers as part of the narrative Every text we publish invites its own interpretation. We believe in the active role of the reader, who not only receives meaning but helps shape it.

Culture needs depth, not speed Instead of a daily flood, we focus on carefully curated contributions that have time to mature. We prefer one essay per month that lasts over ten posts that fizzle out.

Craft before hype We put authors and translators at the center who understand their craft. Every contribution goes through a critical editorial process that sharpens the language, not smooths it out.

Impact through encounter Our goal is not reach, but resonance. When a text reaches a reader and sparks a conversation, it has fulfilled its purpose. This is how sustainable cultural impact is created.

The Team Behind the Literature Stage

Our editorial team brings together experienced literary scholars, editors, and authors. Each person contributes their own perspective on language, narrative art, and cultural mediation. Together, we curate content that stimulates thought and enriches literary discourse.

Bernd Pfleger, Klaus Wirth, and Christopher Glatz – three voices that stand for quality and passion in the German-language literary scene.

Publisher & Editor-in-Chief

Bernd Pfleger

Bernd Pfleger studied German studies and philosophy in Vienna. He led the literary editorial department of a national daily newspaper for several years and is the author of two essay collections on contemporary narrative prose. His focus lies on the connection between classical rhetoric and modern storytelling.

Editor & Translator

Klaus Wirth

Klaus Wirth has been translating contemporary English-language literature into German for over fifteen years. He received the Heinrich Maria Ledig Prize for his translation of Rachel Cusk. In the editorial team, he is responsible for the column "Voices Between Languages" and regularly writes about the art of literary translation.

Author & Cultural Journalist

Christopher Glatz

Christopher Glatz works as a freelance cultural journalist for ORF and Die Presse. He reports on literary salons, book fairs, and the development of independent publishers. His debut novel "The Silence Between the Lines" was published in 2022 and was nominated for the German Book Prize.

Our Profile

Literature Stage – Voices That Endure

We are an editorial team of authors, editors, and translators dedicated to the art of storytelling. Our work is aimed at readers seeking depth and writers looking to refine their craft. We curate content that entertains, moves, and inspires thought – far removed from superficial trends.

01

Who We Write For

Our readers are people who love books, who see stories as windows to other worlds. Whether young or experienced, whether a passionate novel reader or a fan of short stories – we offer material for everyone who takes the time for good text.

Literature is not a luxury, but a basic need.
02

What Drives Us

We believe in the power of the written word, in its ability to broaden perspectives and build community. Our drive is curiosity about new voices and the joy of discovering forgotten texts. Every contribution is an invitation to dialogue.

Stories connect where facts divide.
03

How We Work

Our editorial team works independently and carefully. Every text undergoes a critical review before publication. We prioritize quality over quantity, depth over click numbers. Our tone is respectful, clear, and free of polemics.

Craft before hype – that is our promise.
04

What We Stand For

We clearly position ourselves against hate speech, glorification of violence, and any form of extremism. Our focus is on cultural enrichment, creative expression, and respectful exchange about literature and society. We are a platform for everyone who appreciates the word.

Culture needs space – and we create it.
